Last week we received an email from a woman attending our services over the last few months. She wrote how she was just about to walk out the doors at the end of the service when a couple walked up to her and said, “Hi. I don’t think we’ve met you yet.”
After she introduced herself, the couple said they had heard about her because they’ve been praying for her requests on the Wednesday prayer sheet. She said it was hard to express just how thankful she was to hear those words and that she felt so loved!
Trying to be nice and welcoming isn’t hard, and it doesn’t cost you anything.
Ask yourself, “Am I going to let God love someone THROUGH me today?” I mean, what Christian doesn’t want to be used by God?
Consider how noticing someone, introducing yourself, and having a short conversation with someone can really make them feel loved and special.
What kind of church do we want to be known as?
Sadly, too many churches have a reputation for being cliquey, inward focused, or disinterested in people.
Remember why it was that Jesus came to earth. Luke 19:10 says, “For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.” Jesus cares about souls and so should we.
Today is the first Sunday of our Missions Emphasis Month, and we want to be revived in our passion for souls around the world. But, can we really have a passion for souls if we don’t even notice the people in our own services?
Before you leave the services today, try to find someone you don’t recognize, make them feel welcomed, make them feel special, and make them feel like they’re home.
God bless you as you care for souls today!
