Bro. Gaddis said that camp is a place of decision. Church is a place of discipleship.
You make memorable decisions at camp, but staying connected to your church is how you stay motivated, encouraged and challenged to grow as a disciple of Christ. Also, it’s the only blessed place to serve.
Camp is so memorable. It’s all about the high times—like Jesus and the disciples on the mount of transfiguration. But we can’t live up there all the time. We have to come down from the mountain and live some real life. Too bad, huh?
I loved camp this year. It was a year of powerful preaching, a growing year as we had a young average age of our campers, and a new year as we figured out some things with our custom camp.
As always, the highlight of the year was the preaching. If anything was memorable, it was the sermons that Bro. Gaddis preached. I am jealous of Sean, Josh, Hannah, and Cassi who are leaving here to sit under his preaching every week! It is so memorable!
Don’t let it just be a good memory. Remember the preaching on purpose. Meaning, go back and listen to the sermons. Read over your notes. Encourage yourself, challenge yourself, or rebuke yourself by remembering the Word as it was preached last week. Honor God. Have convictions. Let Christ be the center of your life, and everything else will fall into place.
