What do you think of when you hear the term Manly Men?
Do you think of a macho, beer-drinking, biker dude?
Do you think of some super-buff dude who can lift massive weights?
Do you think of a tough football player?
What picture do you have in your mind of a manly man?
This weekend, Liberty Baptist Church will be helping to build manly men. Strangely enough, manly men aren’t beer-drinkers… they’re sober-minded and kind. Manly men aren’t angry bikers… they’re kind, gentle, and meek.
Manly men learn to control their anger, not give in to it. Manly men love the Lord and learn to show love to others. They don’t view love as weakness but as a biblical trait. The fruit of the spirit—you know, love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance—these are traits that the world views as weaknesses. “Oh, you have faith? Faith is for sissies. I believe what I see.” Or “Psh. You think meekness and gentleness are going to help you get ahead in business? No way, sissy.”
God says otherwise. I’ll take what God says, any day.
I’m going to the Soldiers of the Cross meeting in order to get my face ripped off by preachers of the Word of God. I want to be shown where I’m thinking like the world, and I want to correct it. I want to change into more of a manly man… the Bible kind.
