Ryan and I and some of the church family were able to be at the Heartland Baptist Bible College Church planting Conference last week . We saw God do some things wonderful to behold . A Haitian pastor gave the account of being led to Christ as a child, when a group from Cleveland Baptist Church visited Haiti many years ago . He said a lady who was a Sunday School teacher with the Cleveland Baptist group gave him the gospel . He later made his way to the States, went to Bible College, and now is pastor of a Haitian Baptist Church in Florida . They have saved up $30,000 for a building of their own, but needed $20,000 more to secure the deal, or face losing it by January 31 . God’s people gave over $21,000 right there within about 10 minutes! Another church planter gave an enthusiastic account of God’s blessing in the first months of a new work in the northeast, in spite of the fact that his wife has contracted Lou Gehrig’s Disease, and is now confined to a wheel chair . She still happily serves, though all she is still able to do is to greet the people and to help with the p .a . system . We saw the Lord provide for that family’s excess medical expenses when it came time to respond with giving . Dozens and dozens of church planting families were helped, and we were able to participate in most of that, because you gave! Only when we get into the very presence of the Lord in glory, will we fully see the blessed difference our investments made . But still, what about those all around you in this valley and in our own mission field? You and I have something so many here need too, and we must sow the seed of the gospel and work in our own harvest field while we can.
