Sad movies are for weirdos. Who likes sad movies?!
Everyone wants to be happy. They’re in pursuit of happiness.
Proverbs tells us that happiness is in a lifestyle. It’s not a destination, as if you can’t be happy until you’re old. You can be happy right now.
It matters what you do today. And tomorrow. And Friday. And next week. And next month. And this summer. And so on…
Happiness depends on what path you’re on (Prov. 3:13). There’s the path of fearing God and searching for wisdom as for hidden treasure. There’s that passionate and real hunger to know God and draw close to him. That’s the “happiness” path.
Then there’s the selfish path. It’s all about self. What you want. What pleases you. The bummer is, the more you try to please yourself, the unhappier you become.
Remember Pastor’s sermon on Sunday? Henry Ford said he’d rather be a mechanic. Rockefeller wasn’t happy with his riches. The one-time richest man in America said, “Millionaires never smile.”
Are riches bad? Nope. Are rich people evil? Nope.
That’s not the point. The point is… money doesn’t create happiness. The dream life some people create in their minds is just a fantasy. Fantasies rarely satisfy. They usually just leave you craving more. They are not satisfying.
So, if you’re not living for God, why don’t you take Him at is Word and test out how satisfying He can be. He promises to give you the happiness you’re pursuing in life… but only if you live His way.
Too hard? Don’t worry, Matthew 11:28-30 says, “28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”
