Living on the emotion of a moment is impossible. Some people say, “If I SAW Jesus in person, I would live EVERY DAY completely sold out for him.” They think the emotional shock of seeing someone raised from the dead would be enough to make sure they did right for the rest of their lives.
But it doesn’t work like that, does it?
Have you ever gone through something painful and said, “I will NEVER do that again.” But when the shock of the pain goes away, so does your resolve.
Jesus rose from the dead not to SHOCK people into believing in him, but to give NEW LIFE. The power to live as a Christian does not come from the emotional moment of being born again, it comes from the power of the Holy Ghost in you. It means you yield your life to him day by day; even moment by moment.
That’s faith. Jesus said in John 20:29 “Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.”
Emotions will only carry you so far. You can never “relive the moment” enough to force true change to happen. That can only come through Jesus Christ.
Trust him. Believe him. Follow him. Yield to him.
