Perhaps the GREATEST Hindrance to Prayer…
Tonight, I want to look at what I believe is one of the GREATEST hindrances to prayer. I know that we make excuses and have all kinds of reasons for not praying like we ought to (e.g. laziness or fatigue), but I am convinced that there is often a deeper reason.
“I feel distant” or “I feel unworthy” are getting closer to it, but tonight we will look at a particular phrase from Hezekiah’s prayer (and David’s, and Jesus’) that hits pretty close to home.
If you feel distant from God, though, the answer is not to stop praying! That’s when you should be praying even more. And, take hold of that precious gift from God called repentance. What a treasure that God allows us to be CLEANSED before Him!
I am glad that the Teens of Faith get to be in with us tonight. Bro. Christian is preaching a conference in Texas and doing some work in Oklahoma for the next week or so, and I am glad that he and Mrs. Sarah can get away together. I am also glad for a staff that can preach! I am always helped by Bro. Christian’s sermons, and I am excited that other churches can be helped by his preaching ministry as well.
