I know I say it a lot, but what in the world does it actually mean to “love God?”
What do you think when you hear that phrase?
One thing that I’ve really tried to emphasize, especially this past year, is that you teens learn to love God. Not just “you teens,” but me too. And the Bakers. And every Christian!
We ALL need to learn to love God more… but what does that mean?
I’m afraid there’s a little bit of a misunderstanding of that term when I say “love God.” I’m afraid you hear it so often that it’s not sinking in.
If you were here last Sunday night, you heard the opening sermon to this series. I preached it in church to everyone, and basically laid out what we’re going to be doing in the Teens of Faith for the next several weeks.
Over the course of this series—what I’m simply calling the Teens of Faith series—we’re going to break it up into three basic sections: Love God, Love others, Do right.
Under each of these sections will fall lots of different points.
The specifics is what we’ll be looking at. I know I can very often preach general principles with a specific application or two. This series will almost be the opposite – I’m giving you the general principles up front and then we will spend more time on the specifics.
Love God is the general principle. It’s the overarching guide to what we’re talking about.
But again, what does that mean?!
Hopefully through this series, you’ll find out. Hopefully it will be a help. “Loving God” is ALL through Scripture. I read it EVERYWHERE now! Let’s get a good idea of what loving God is.

YOUTH WINTER RENDEZVOUS – This week! January 2-3 in Wrightwood, CA. Leaving at 8am Thursday and returning Friday evening. Probably no snow play this year, but still a great time. Cost is $110 and includes all gas, meals and lodging. Money due today. See Mrs. Jamie for how much you owe.
OFFERING – Only one more week to give. Bring your $1 or $20.
TIES – Guys, feel free to take 2 or 3 ties, if you want. I got about 35 new ties for Christmas ($2 each!) and purged out some of my old ties for you to take. Some are old, some are new. I wore ALL of them, so it’s not like they’re some old, dumb ties. ☺ I promise.
