Pastor has asked us to do something a little different on Wednesday nights.
Starting in a few weeks, we will be involved in some of the Wednesday night specials in church. At least once per month, we will be able to be involved in the music service in some way—some of you more than others. What an opportunity! Let me explain…
Serving in church is an opportunity… not a drudgery. Serving in church brings eternal rewards and is a simple way to be used by God. Sometimes people wish they could “do more for God” when they hear a convicting sermon. They say “I want to serve God with my life” but they think that means, like, future-life-some-day-sort-of-when-I’m-like-grown-up life.
When does that life start? When you’re 18? 20? 25? 35? 50?
Why not now? Let me help you… it DOES start now!
With the new opportunities to serve on Wednesday nights, you are literally serving the Lord by leading singing, playing the piano, and even being involved in the monthly youth nights in the Wednesday services.
Soon, we will begin asking some of you guys to lead singing (*gasp of terror!) I’ll work with you… I promise. J
It will be a terrible, horrible, death sentence to you… if you view it that way. But if you view it the right way (ie that you are able to biblically serve the Lord!), then leading singing, playing the piano, etc. is an opportunity! It should be, “Thank you, God, for giving me the chance to serve you.”
When you’re asked to sign up, don’t roll your eyes and say, “Uuugh.. okay. Is it only one time I have to do this?” That stinks.
Rather, say, “I might wet my pants I’m so scared, but if I can serve God, I’ll do it! If He’s willing to use me, I’m willing to be used!” That’s the spirit.
Oh, and by the way, leading singing is only one example. If you play the piano or otherwise need to miss our game time, don’t worry about it. Our Wednesday night game time is NOTHING compared to what you get to do in being involved in the music. Thank God you get to serve.
