This week of camp felt more urgent than other years. Halfway through the week, news of another major scandal broke as another celebrity Baptist pastor was arrested, and at camp, I looked over the crowd of teens and prayed that God would get their hearts.
We need holy teenagers.
We need teens who will stand for God. Teens who will say no to the evils that this world has to offer. Teens who will resist the devil.
We’ve already had a year of junk, and then I spent an afternoon on a phone call with a friend who’s going through more junk. Sexual sins are rampant, and we can’t be messing with that. At all. Not a hint of it!
But too many are going about their merry way, thinking no one will know. You know what I read in my Bible this week? “Be sure your sin will find you out.”
God wants to purge your life of sin to make you a vessel fit for His service. What’s it going to take?
Oh, I hurt in my soul when people slap on a smile and never deal with sin. Sin festers, sometimes for years, and then explodes. Taking casualties with it.
I normally write a nice, encouraging note after camp. I normally highlight our guest preacher.
Well, camp was great, and Pastor Jason Jett will be a blessing to you today. I’m positive of that.
But we’ve got to get real, folks. Ugh, sin is putrid, and I hate it so much.
God hates it too. So much so that He placed the sin of the world on His Son, Jesus. Jesus died for your sin to give you HIS righteousness. You are complete in Him, no matter what the OrthoBros or PhrygianBros say (that’s from our Colossians series, in case you missed it). Trust Christ’s work to continuously make you free. Run to Him! Trust Him!
As icky as sin is, the grace of Jesus’ work can abound even more.
